Periodontal Treatment

Back to Services

Periodontal treatment deals with gum (periodontal) disease diagnosis and treatment.

An estimated 80% of adults have some degree of gum disease, a result of poor or inconsistent dental hygiene and the subsequent build-up of plaque. In its earliest stage, gum disease cause your gums to swell and they may bleed easily during brushing. As gum disease progresses you may notice bad breath that won’t go away, painful or sensitive teeth. At its worst, gum disease may cause the loss of teeth. So, if you want to keep your teeth, you must take care of your gums. The good news is that gum disease is preventable in most cases. Attention to everyday oral hygiene (brushing and flossing), coupled with professional cleanings twice a year, could be all that’s needed to prevent and actually reverse the early stage of gum disease. If you have gum disease, we will identify it during your exam and recommend the best treatment for the level of severity.

Our hygienist use the Cavitron Ultrasonic Cleaning system to thoroughly and gently clean away plaque from above and below the gum line to treat and even reverse early stage gum disease.
